Papparazzi and other supporters

From the moment I stepped on the treadmill, I had the complete support of my family.  When I stepped off the treadmill and ventured outdoors, my son bought me a spray to keep me safe from off leash dogs, or in my neighbourhood fox or other wild animals.

My husband has frequently trailed me in the car during early morning or early evening runs along the highway. He fends off dogs for me.  He has his camera at the ready at every race, and at sprinting practice, and hill repeats. He's there taking photographic evidence of my running in the snow, and the rain, good hair days, and many more sweaty hair days. He even takes the wet liners out of my sneakers after a run in the rain, so they'll be dry for the next day.

So many people came out to support Darrell and I at the Bluenose Marathon:  all of Darrell's children, their spouses and the grandchildren, as well as his wife, Linda.  My children, my friend, Wendy, and my husband were all there cheering us on.  We had an amazing post race celebration breakfast for all.

  1. You are right Daphne, support from others helps a lot. It would be no fun to cross the finish line with arms waving in the air and no photographer.....
